About the Plant

Planting Instructions
This plant is highly suitable in areas with warm and frost-free climate. In areas with frost, the plant can be grown in containers and can also be brought inside under eves. It must be undercover during winter. Brunfelsias have a strong sweet smelling fragrance and can survive in the sun or the shade in cooler climates. But, it is better to plant them in areas where they will be able to receive morning sun and some shade during the afternoon or in a partly shady area for the whole day. They cannot withstand extreme hot or cold temperatures without protection. To survive they do not prefer any soil preferences, yesterday today and tomorrow plant is slow growing. If you like, adding some valuable humus would assist in faster growth and blooms. Make sure that you are planting them in well-draining soil. Propagation
The propagation is mainly by using softwood cuttings of the shrub. The ideal time to take softwood cutting for propagation is from spring to early summer. Take approximately 4” cuttings during the early morning. Take the cutting from the non-flowering shoot and remove the extreme tip. Remove the bottom leaves and dip the end in the rooting hormone. Place them in a pot filled with soil and compost mixture. The leaves should be above the level of the soil. Water and cover the pot with a polythene sheet and place it in an area receiving bright sunlight, but out of the direct sun. The place should be warm and humid. Periodically remove the polythene sheet to give ventilation to the plant.
